not journaled has the potential to be less intrusive.
i have not seen any negative reports about journalled.
not seen any reports about it at all.
in fact i dont actually have any idea what it actually does....
from my understanging it is a logging function.

it is supposed to keep multiple copies of document files---i believe.
but i think that applications might have to be written to take advantage.
i have never seen any do this.
Actually it keeps a record of the _changes_ to the disk directory, which is quite a bit faster than actually changing the directory each time a file is added, edited, or deleted.
The consensus is that this is a good thing for disks that hold your OS but not as necessary with disks that hold only your media files. It's recommended that you turn Journaling OFF on your media drives.

any form of 'journalling' is turned off as far as i know - even if you format your discs with 'journalling'
you need to execute a command in the terminal to actually activate it.
for most normal users - and that includes all the users of this type of application - it has no utility.
