at start next week i will start test with DECKLINK HD ESTREME and
5 HD's EXTERNAL RAID to storage HD image.
I need to capture live too,on CATV4 in HD mode.
Can you give me some suggestion or i can start test without
special configuration???
I speak about CAT conf. not not video card conf.

Noone has tested or used HD input in catalyst.

anything with HD playback - needs thoroughly testing- by you - before you go anywhere near any site.
There are only a very few things that work.

i do not and cannot test configurations of multiple disc systems - there are just too many different types.
And in general i would only ever suggest 2 things work - XServe RAID ( agressive caching ), and single fast 15000rpm scsi discs.

Everything else is up to you to - and dont expect miracles.

almost all of these discs systems work very very badly with random access files. meaning they dont work better than a single disc.

The remaining performance issue is slow small random read speeds for one, two, three or four drives. No matter how many drives you configure in RAID 0 sets, the average random read speed for combined block sizes from 64K to 1024K is less than 30MB/s!

what is the priority for you?

Hi Richard thanks for your answer.
HD is not priority at moment but i think is marriable perfectly
with triplehead2go and multiple output on CATV4.
In my office i have many HD systems like VIDEOCAMERAS and
SPECIAL HARDDRIVER to storage HD FILM/VIDEO and IMAGES,
is not impossible to test HD for me,is only time problem
We haved a show in TORINO last SATURDAY and we use 1,2 Terabyte
movies and images high resolution in uncompressed files(choice of customer).
We solve using more hard driver to play movies simultanuosly,for this
i'm organizzing my MAC PRO CatV4 DEMO unit with A MULTIPLE RAID
HARD DRIVE internal/external system(i'm testing both).

At moment my priority is to have a special configuration to have
8 videoprojector in soft hedge and keystoned.
the image must to be one using 8 orizzontal videoprojector.

You will reiceved details from HES rappresentant RUDIGER,was with me during
my DEMO to the customer.

I know we can use 2048x2048 max image size (OPENGL).

My idea is:

Use 2 MAC PRO CatV4 to have 4 output.
Use 4 for dualhead2go to became 8 output, 8 for 800x600 resolution .
Use 4 mixes each CatV4 for a total of 8 mixes (1 mixes each output).
Use X offset each mixes.
Use blending right/left where is necessary.
Use Keystone where is necessary.

I think is possible to use 4 image files of 1600x600,for a total screen
of 6400 x 600 image.
in order to use movie files i will put the files in 4 different hard driver and
i will use Sink ID to sincronize both files on 2 MAC.

How do you think about this configuration????
Please let me know if we can to do in different mode.

i used a configuration very similar from what you described, but I used 6 projectors in a row.. I did use 2 triple Heads and 2 Catalysts to do it.

So 1 Catalyst and 1 Triple Head gows to 3 projectors, and the same on the second CAT. each one with 2400 x 800. SYNC IDs on the Layers and all went thru OK.

The total of the Image was 4800 x 800, the only issue is you need to make a movie on that configuration.

We toth was too Big, to play on Catalyst, so the guys made a Video of 1600 x 800, and the image inside the Video was squeezed, when I placed in Catalyst, using Aspect Ratio, I did Stretch the image to the above format.

i know is not the best, but work out OK.

Also we used some content making like 3/ 4 layers each time, cloning some etc...

Yes is very similar,but i need to know if X Offset can allocate
8 orizzontal mixes and specially if i will not problem to blending
both MAC PRO.
At moment we are to selled all CATv4 and i'm waiting 2 new cat server
from HES.For this i'm impossibilitate to test this configuration.
I hope reiceve my catv4 servers very soon.
