    in addition

The 1013 is pretty cool and pretty cheap if you only need Y/C out. A step up from that are two units..

One is the 1012 which has controls on the front and also as Y/C and Component out.

The big brother to this unit is the 1015 which is the same but also has a DVD drive.

This way you can get content onto the Edje network and distribute from there. How I have been specifying this unit is the master edje has the drive (1015) and the slaves are the base model (1012)

The units slave with frame accuracy using the Adtec protocol in the Edje network.

Controlling these units via samsc can be done through serial or Ethernet.

    they're ok

I used four of them slaved together once.
Worked fine, but it takes forever to upload the video files. The units have 10 instead of 100Mb ethernet and you're forced to use a dirty windows program to do the upload. Once the files were in, i started to like them.
Good skipping from file to file.

Didn't try that. I did it at the rental company that supplied them, and they just gave me the setup with the pc to upload it.
But with ftp, it would still be just the 10Mbit connection.
And i also recall having to convert the dv files specifically with their software...

RBrowser Lite was the best free one I found, and use with my websites.

Yes it would still be a 10MBit connection....very slow.

There are quite a few mac programs that will convert DV to MPEG2 files.
MPEG2 files are used as standard on DVDs.

A Program that ships with Final Cut, and DVD studio pro - 'Compressor' will create MPEG2 files in many formats.

There are also many other programs that will do this.

    Version tracker search for mpeg:

I know, but the video company asked me for a dv stream file (.dv)
I offered them to bring in a .m2v or QT movie with MPEG2 compression, but the whole mac thing scared them so they only dared to do it with a .dv file.

so the client wanted delivery of a .dv file - which they then converted themselves to mpeg2 for uploading to the boxes?
