yes it would.

Core audio has a ton of useful features in osx. things like 3d mixers too.

i wrote the multichannel audio support a long time ago before osx, originally i used ASIO.
it needs a few weeks work - ( when i have to moment ) - and the sanity to delve into the poorly documented core audio stuff.
Normally doing audio leaves me in a state of apoplexy with crashing machines for weeks on end.
My motu 828mk2 drivers kernel panicked my g5 for 10 days recently - not fun!
