    highend stock content is only at standard defintion. 720x576, or 720x480 or 640x480.

    there is no point re-rendering any standard defintion footage up to any higher resolution.

    you will not get any more detail than simply scaling up the movie in catalyst.

    you will only get any advantage if your footage originated in a hi-def format. film or hi-def video.

    you can buy HD background clips 1080p stuff from digital juice:

    i have some.

    it all needs to be rerendered as it ships in a wierd format, i think its png, and the discs i got all had strange corruption problems.

    i used compressor to rerender a whole load of clips.
