How do Catalyst detect live inputs

    Hi

I am trying to get some live inputs thru Catalyst. I have set a camera via USB i a port in the Mac is this how it is done?

How do I know which input to select in the 255 library?

    Best regards

You have to enable video inputs in the 'input' HUD.
Then select the camera from the list and 'patch' it to the relevant catalyst video input.
The video input is then selectable via the 'file' parameter when lib 255 is selected.

However - I SERIOUSLY don't recommend USB camera capture as the latency (delay) will be terrible...

OK, I need it to mimic a surveillance camera so I think it will be fine. I can not get it to work how ever.

I got as far as opening the input and turning every video input (from 1-12) on and set them as a copy of every input but I still cant see the image in the input HUD. I also tried to cycle through the video inputs in the file parameter on the console but that dident work either.

The camera is on and connected via USB and showing an image so it should be okay. What else could I have missed?

I am looking into getting a grabbing card of some kind and found Activesilicon (they were mentioned here somewhere) Do you know their products? And what would you recommend. I need three different live inputs not necessarily at the same time.

I hope it makes some kind of sense.

    Best regards

  4. Hello Anders

For mutliple composite inputs, the LFG card from Active Silicon is a very good option. It can take four composite inputs in, and you can have multiple cards allowing 8 inputs.

If you wish to contact me off board, I can let you have pricing for those.

    kind regards

Would recommend the LFG4 quad composite capture card - its the best value for money for 4x composite inputs in to catalyst.
List price is £495.00 +VAT GBP.
Discounts available for multiple cards. Max 3x cards in a MacPro allowing 12 inputs.
We have them in stock on the shelf.

On the video input HUD - don't open all inputs or set 'copy of'
All you have to do is open ONE video input and select the USB camera if listed.
(Sometimes you will see the isite camera if working on a MacBook.)

ALSO - ensure that you close any external software you may be using to test the USB camera - as usually only one application can access capture/camera drivers.
So if you are seeing an image outside of catalyst - then close the app and startup catalyst and it may appear.
HOWEVER - if its not in the list - then its probably a driver issue and may not be supported...

(Note - for LFG card - you have to enable he 'API' in catalyst video input preferences menu)

    regards
