Check that the Mac is in 32 bit mode:

By default all new 5,1 2010/2011 MacPros boot in to 64bit mode.
However, Quicktime does not support 64bit mode and many 3rd party drivers used with catalyst are not compatible with 64bit mode. (including Active Silicon)
    SOLUTION:
Force the Mac to boot in 32bit mode.

To select the 32-bit kernel for the current startup disk, use the following command in Terminal:

    sudo systemsetup -setkernelbootarchitecture i386

This will allow the Mac to boot in to 32bit mode permanently
(an alternative command is available to boot in to 64bit mode)

    If this doesnt work:
    remove the cards
start with a blank catalyst show with no settings
    check it runs correctly

re-install one card - and check again
    then
re-install next card - and check again

Dont use old show files when changing versions or OS - always start from a blank catalyst show (ie no settings)

    Crash 10.6.8

Thank you, thank you very much.

The system always starts in 32-bit mode.

I deleted the settings file, and I started with a blank settings. (I have not uninstalled the cards, I thought to do next if this does not work).
I restarted Catalyst with blank settings and then configure it, everything is back to work as before, I can change resolutions and so from the window of inputs. ! And it does not crash!
Well not everything worked (maybe because of the 10.6.8 update) the case is that the keyboard does not work and I can not redo the patch, all parameters are controlled by DMX and are more than 100 devices to patching.

    Any ideas.

    thanks

what was your previous setup? - ie What OS and catalyst version?

duplicate the show folder - (so you have a backup)
can you go back to your previous setup and disable video inputs
    quit catalyst
    then
open the show with your updated setup - 10.6.8 + m329
if that works - then re-enable video inputs...

    10.6.8

    Ok, the keyboard works.

He forced exit, again delete the settings file and has to start again, reconfigure, etc, etc, etc.

    Everything works and no crash.

The only thing is that the system Patch (Richard) eventually there will be restructured, when loaded by DMX 100 fixtures into the patch, is very cumbersome

    Thanks again.

this is a very very old mac pro - 1,1

with hdsdi phoenix and LFG inside it-

    x1900

you might simply be overloading the computer when you turn things on

    Patch Catalyst

Mac Pro 1.1 is very old, and we have to update it, but the economic situation ...

You tell me (Richard) to consider in the future, a more comfortable Patch system for groups of devices, or some form of power patcher 100 fixtures in a comfortable way.
(counting to manage parameters for DMX)

    Current control:
Mix - Select + Type + Color --- 1 Fixture only (to Grandma)
Mix Curve ---- 1 Fixture only (to Grandma)
Layer + vol + ColFX + VixFx ---- 1 Fixture only (to Grandma)

Just a suggestion, thanks for everything.
