    AS PE4 Optimizatation

We are seeing a frame stutter issues with our PE4 cards. This is most noticeable when a camera begins a pan- the image will take a beat before it catches up with the motion.

    Using Mac Pro 5.1
    OS 10.6.7
    Quadro 4000 output
    6 GB RAM
    Catalyst m329

    This is NTSC-

Are there any recommendations on preferences or video input settings?

I am having this same issue. I have been told that it is due to the video in frame rate not being the same as the computers display rate. However no one has been able to tell me how to fix this. If I find an answer I will let you know.

Has anyone had any luck with this? I am seeing the same thing.

    Thanks

    Please answer all questions fully:

what is your graphics card output resolution?
what is your graphics card output refresh rate?
(ie to the LCD / projectors)

what frame rate is catalyst set to?

what is your SDI input resolution?
(ie SDI signal to the Phoenix card)
    480i / 480p / 576i / 576p / 720p / 1080i / 1080p

what is your SDI input frame rate?
    23.98 / 24 / 25 / 29.97 / 30 / 50 / 59.94/ 60Hz?

How many inputs are you using?

    Any other PCIe cards installed?

    is the SDI input De-interlaced?

    Try disconnecting the SDI inputs
then disconnect the output of the graphics card and re-connect
Then re-connect the SDI inputs one by one.
    Does this make a difference?

what is your graphics card output resolution?
    -output 1: 3072 x 768 (triple h2g). output 2: 1280 x 1024

what is your graphics card output refresh rate?
    both outputs: 60Hz
(ie to the LCD / projectors)

what frame rate is catalyst set to?
    -30fps

what is your SDI input resolution?
-525i (what I am being told by video)

what is your SDI input frame rate?
-59.94 (what I am being told)

How many inputs are you using?
    1 Phoenix and one LFG4

    Any other PCIe cards installed?
    LFG 4 and USB

    is the SDI input De-interlaced?
    Yes

    Try disconnecting the SDI inputs
then disconnect the output of the graphics card and re-connect
Then re-connect the SDI inputs one by one.
    Does this make a difference?
    - still trying this.

I tried disconnecting and reconnecting. No noticable change.

Here is where I am right now:

I have capture set at Split Feild 60Hz.
This seems to have removed the "jitter". The quality is a little less, but the jitter is gone.
I still have a slight issue with the picture. Every once and a while the image "shifts" like someone is moving the camera. It only does it once or twice each time, but it is noticable. No lag during the shift. It is almost like something isn't lining up and it's a bump in an otherwise smooth line.

    Thanks

I still have frame stutter on my cards every minute ish... can't seem to get rid of it.... surely there is a solution as other servers can input video without this issue. My issue is I have smooth video except for a few seconds of stutter on what seems to be a regular interval.. perhaps every minute or so.

That is also what I am seeing with the input. I changed input settings and have found something that works until I can smooth it out.

    The key points are:

what is your graphics card output refresh rate?
    both outputs: 60Hz

what is your SDI input frame rate?
-59.94 (what I am being told)
These 2 figures dont match - therefore it will stutter at a regular interval.

To reduce the stutter - you must make these figures match - by changing one of them...

I changed input settings and have found something that works
what did you find that works?
