    Phoenix card issue

    Hi

We have two catalyst machines here at NRK. One mac pro 3.1 running 10.5.8 and one mac pro 5.1 running 10.6.7.

We also have two 2008 phoenix PHX-D10HDSDI single lane cards, with upgraded firmware.

In system profiler, both cards show up on our old machine, while none show up on the new machine.

The error I'm getting is the same as Gian here: http://chaldee1.gotadsl.co.uk/~richa...ead.php?t=1991

We are booting the new machine in 32bit kernel mode, and we're still getting the same message.

We have the latest version of Catalyst and the phoenix driver.

Error means that catalyst is not 'seeing' the phoenix cards

double check the driver and download the latest driver from the Active Silicon Website:
    http://downloads.activesilicon.com/p...-v05_43_00.dmg

Also double check that you are actually running in 32bit mode
(System profile / Software / 64-bit Kernel and Extensions = NO)

Otherwise, Contact Active Silicon phoenix Support:
    phoenix.support@activesilicon.com

and send them your a system profile (not catalyst system profile) for BOTH macs with Phoenix cards installed in both for comparison.

Open system profile via apple menu and about / more info - save as XML / SPX

    See info:

For catalyst use - Macs have to run in 32bit mode not 64bit

    2010 MacPros 5,1 Boot in to 64Bit
New 2010 MacPros 5,1 boot in to 64bit mode.
3rd party drivers used with catalyst are not compatible with 64bit mode-
Active Silicon Drivers and other video digitisers are only 32bit.

    SOLUTION:
MacPro need to boot in 32bit mode.
To select the 32-bit kernel for the current startup disk, use the following command in Terminal:

    sudo systemsetup -setkernelbootarchitecture i386

This will sets the Mac to boot in to 32bit mode permanently
(an alternative command is available to boot in to 64bit mode)

  6. Phoenix card issue

    hi FAXVAAG.

in order to have the best performance of phoenix working on
OS 10.6.x snow leopard mac pro's 5.1 insert Phoenix card
    on SLOT 3 only.

Phoenix PE4 working fine on any slot of the mother board.
Phoenix PE1 working fine only slot 3 of the mother board.

Put your Phoenix on SLOT 3.

Check info mac/more information/PCIe/slot read if driver is installed,
you need reinstall driver if you move phoenix in different slot
    (only one time).

if serial number your Phoenix starting by 5xxx please contact
Active Silicon Support, probably your phoenix need reflash at
last firmware version to working at the best.

for sure at moment you must work at 32 bit

    Let we know.....
