Thread: Powerpoint import

    Powerpoint import

    Hi,

Is there a better way to import ppt in catalyst with DVI2USB frame grabbers at the moment? Exporting to QT is no option for the moment, the speaker controls ppt.
Can someone post a jpeg or QT movie with the difference between the original and frame grabbed image?

    Thanks,

    Peter

Will the setup be something like this :

Pc laptop or Macbook -> DVI output -> TV-ONE 1T-C2-520 or similar -> Phoenix HDSDI input?

    Any other suggestions?

Will the difference in cost between a DVI2USB and the above be worth it, regarding the quality of the projected ppt?

    Thanks,

    Peter

depends on what your latency requirements are

you can try a decklink card if you dont need low latency

you can also try intensity card with hdmi straight from computer - but hdmi can be very tricky to set up
and only some computers like outputting at a resolution which is compatible with decklink hdmi - they only work at certain screen sizes set by hdmi edid

you have to test these things yourself

    you can also try these:
    http://www.blackmagic-design.com/products/dviextender/
    to convert to sdi

i dont use dvi2usb so i dont know how well they work

    hello Peter
i work with catalyst and TV-ONE C2-2355A (HDSDI) and PHOENIX 2XHDSDI INPUT and it's wonderfull. no latency with video input and for Power point import it work perfect. you can connect MAC or PC in any resolution screen and the TV-one scale it and the signal is perfect.
but this is expensive like TVone:1600€ and Poenix:1900€

    exactly - exactement-

peter need to test what he can get away with for his particular client at his price point-

the decklink intensity solution is much much cheaper but less flexible- and is usually ok- but he needs to test it-

    ---

the dvi2usb solution is an interesting curve ball- -

but usb doesnt have anywhere near high enough bandwidth to do it properly...
so they have to fudge some things -
    for some people its acceptable

    Scaler VGA to HD/SDI

I think the solution to the catch of power point.
VGA -> TVOne HDSDI -> Phoenix.
But is there any alternative to the scaler: TVOne C2-2355A Scaler the price I am getting is around ? 2379.

A cheaper solution, but with good results (for conversion to HD / SDI).

    Thanks

    Decklink dvi extender

But you can just try using an intensity card with hdmi input

You don't want to convert to sdi if you are just doing computer stuff
