  1. All you really need is a gigabyte for the OS and another for apps. Not worth wasting money on memory unless you use other apps that need more.

    My experience would be in line with Nev.. My systems have 8 or 4, and thats only ever utilized when working in final cut or doing large conversion jobs. if you run catalyst and monitor your ram usage you can see for yourself.

    Thanks everyone for the advise. Glad to hear that. Now, I can save more $$$ to boost up my server performance. Has anyone tried upgrading a quad core mac pro to a octo core mac pro?
