Honestly, if you're doing a tour, follow the simplest rule of thumb. Make things as simple and reliable as possible. Sometimes that means the projector with the most reliable track record, other times it means the one with the smallest truck footprint.

If it comes to resolution, most LCDs are 1024x768. Most DLPs are 1280x1024 or higher. If your content resolution is below the output size then neither matters. If it's soft watery smoke fx then DLP will look smoother. LCD is good for the hard edge stuff.

Also, the typical black level and contrast ratio of an LCD are typically lower than DLP.
