    Rumor goes that you can flash the HD 4870 PC version (2x DVI) with a Mac Bios. The successor of HD 4870, the HD 4890, coming out in April, is a tweaked version of the HD 4870. Increased ram and GPU frequencies, so the bios update should work as well for this card.

    All in All there should be a considerable performance gain with the Nehalem processors. What I understand is that processors are the bottleneck?
    curious to see when someone test such a top notch system.

    hacking apple stuff is a very bad idea- not recommended ... increased speed of gpu means increased heat etc ...

    i do not think one will see a 'considerable' performance increase - as adding more processors just doesnt help - so many operating system things are single threaded - like disc access-
    also 'hyperthreading' is likely to reduce performance - as here are likely to be more kernel context switches ...

    we will see - modest expectations are the order of the day.
