    Question New Macbook Pro

Does anyone know how the new macbook pro will handle catalyst or has anyone tested this yet?

  2. Hi Mick

I have done some testing using an SSD drive in the new Macbook Pro's - interesting results.

Tests were run on a 15 inch Macbook PRO with the factory fitted SATA drive and an OCZ SSD, OS 10.5.5 and Catalyst m207. Test files were created using various resolutions, all using AIC codec. As the Macbook PRO's effectively have two graphics cards installed, all tests were run using both options and with and without an external monitor. The laptop display was run at 1440 x 900 and the second monitor at 1280 x 1024.

The table below shows the number of layers that each test could play back before dropping frames at each resolution.

9400 or 9600 indicates which graphics card option was used.
S or D indicates test run on Single or Dual screens

If you have any questions, please PM me.

    regards

    Nev.

macbook pro works pretty well. and you can fit ssd inside it without taking computer apart-

usage depends on your application requirements.

if you are thinking of using one - you must test yourself for your application requirements - and not rely on anyone elses data or information- these tests are neither comprehensive nor conclusive -

outside of standard defintion dv 720x576 or whatever performance is dependant on content.

no performance guarantees are implied by them being on catvx....

    Hey Nev,

I am curious. Your results show higher layer count on dual output for 1280x720 on the 9400 than the 9600. I am a little surprised at this. Is this correct?
