Gefen DVI 8x8 Matrix will RS232 work?

Hi,

I'm eying the Gefen DVI 8x matrix with RS232. Will the RS232 work in Catalyst or do you need to write a custom profile for it according to the manufactures specs?

thanks for the reply. I was aware of the RS232 programming, but do you need to make a custom RS232 patch between the device, or does it need to be programmed in Catalyst before it works. With other words, can you do it yourself, or do we need to ask Richard to build it in?

How many combinations can you make with a 8x8 matrix? is there a limit on RS232?

Unless you need all 64 (8x8) combinations, then use the custom serial boxes to program the RS232 switch codes you need.

Depending upon the matrix, it may be possible to put more than one code in to the box - enabling you to switch a group inputs/outputs. With 6 serial control devices, you have 60 command spaces...

Richard has included matrix control for a few different matricies in as a dmx device - including gefen is a question for him - he's really busy at the moment though....

Do you have all the command codes available/listed? If so - please post them here in a logical format...

No info yet, machine is in preorder fase, so before I actually buy it, I was wondering if would eventually work. This is the only Geffen DVI matrix with RS232, and for a reasonable price.

So as long as they attach the serial commands, we can determine if all 64 combinations will work?

So no rush, just eying a nice piece of kit.
