    Grandma experiences

    Hi,

What are you're experiences with these lighting consoles? Anything to watch out for?

    Thanks,

    Peter

The biggest pain I find with running media servers on GrandMA is that you have to keep navigating up and down through menus to get to all your options in parameters.

The console will get the job done, but I find that the GUI is rather inelegant as far as media programming goes.

    Just my $0.02

the easy solution to this is the "Smart" window, you have access to everything at one touch, very elegant solution for media servers.....

I pretty much only program GrandMAs and Virtuosos. And I love them both.

I learned the Virtuoso but even though I loved it when I learned it, I find that it simply can't do all the things I want or need to do.

The MA is okay but I have to agree that navigation is a pain. MA has been a good choice overall because it has so much in one desk. It's also quite solid and rarely provides hiccups.

Having spend a great deal of time learning computer programming, using the command line and editors of the Hog 3 are tremendously fast for me. Although I have imagination of a better console overall in the future, for now Hog 3 has proven best overall, especially with media servers.

I use an iPC in either HogII or Hog III mode - as I own one.
Occasionally use GrandMA (cant wait for the new MA...)

HogII allows easy customisation and layout of the fixture profile. Hog III can be a bit of a pain with the naming(!) an general use.
MA - good, but have to take a little time to adjust your layout for best control.
