Thread: Save as photoshop layers

    Save as photoshop layers

Would be lovely to have the possibility to click something and catalyst saves the sum of the output at that moment as Photoshop layers like in After Effects. I'd find this rather useful for knocking things back to 1 layer that have been composited live on the hoof in rehearsals, tec etc.

    Cheers

    Hi Finn,

I'm sure you'll have found this by now but you can always take a snapshot of your screen using [Shift]+[Command]+[3]. You can set this to grab in various file formats.

The easiest way to do what you want is to write a simple applescript which does the following:
    • http trigger a preset for each layer to go to full and other to go to zero.
    • a screen capture
    • a launch photoshop with settings command
    • an export to layer 'n' command
    • a loop to chase through each layer
    • a final save photoshop As command

If you don't know about applescript then no worries. If you're curious, applescript is relatively easy to learn and nice to know. There are tons of things it will do to make your life easier with Catalyst.
