    - though im not going to go anywhere near to 'recommending' them.
    they work have worked fine this year, a couple of years ago their drivers were horrible. these things are up and down all the time.

    I've used the M-audio Super DAC-2496, which takes the TOSLINK optical audio out the bac of the mac and converts it to Balanced XLR outs

    But, this item has been discontinued. You can still find them some places though.

    I have an M-audio Super DAC-2496 - works great - conact me if you want to hire it...

    Also tested an Alesis USB-Audio/Midi devive today (io/2) - worked well and has both Audio and MIDI onboard for about £100...
