    14 layers in 25ms for 8 core 3.Ghz

kindof what you would expect from cpu speed increase.
Can we think to create a " snap shoot " of contents in a disk ram and then recall it ?

Say for every song we need just 2 / 4 giga of contents ...

how it's possible to load and un load those 4 giga ?

you will have to check out what the ram disc can do.

I had someone who was checking out the flash RAM drives with SATA interfaces that started appearing- he ordered one - not sure it turned up yet.

Actually - i can do 16 dv layers on the quad 2.66Ghz with RAMdisk.
And to prove its not just disks.

I composited all 16 layers with transparent black ( nVidia 7300 ) card- and it uses about 10% of graphics.

the fps number are not correct in the captures because capturing screen interferes with playback....

RAM drives with SATA or Ram Disk the space it's not very much at this time , I'm sure in few years we will larf about this . But the issue now is space for one or the other .

Any one out there can tell us how many giga are used in one song or event ?

I know it change from one to infinite , but I'm just curious to see if this Ramz things can be used in a real show or not .

Richard , Cat.app in the ram disk can help some how or not ?

solid state discs from san disk

    http://www.sandisk.com/OEM/ProductCa...te_Drives.aspx

the performance of these will be related to the drive latency- how long it takes to process a disc read -

write an applescript or shell script - to delete files, and copy another batch. control from dmx in cue list. could be done....

it takes about a minute or so to copy 4Gb - assuming bandwidth from disc of around 50MB/s
