    Help reconfiguring Catalyst

I currently own an older Catalyst machine -
    Dual G5 @ 2Ghz
    Radeon 9800
    1 GB RAM

Currently using Ver 3 but I am upgrading Ver 4
    2 DL1's (1024x768)

I would like to add an additional ouput (possibly with THTG or even a dualheadto go) for 1 additional projecter (1024x768)
What do I need to do hardware wise to make this happen?

If you are happy with the performance, I have some similar Cat systems, and I do use a TripleHead2Go and works fine for us. Richard will tell that will definitly comprimise performance. We work fine with them.
If I was on your shoes, I will go ahead and get a DualHead2Go (less performance consumption), and pretty cheap, arround 150 - 200 bucks.
Put in the second output, goes to DL1s. and the 1st Output goes to the other projector.

BTW - Richard is the best guru here, we learn most of what we know from him. And we learn a lot... And of course he things on the BEST ever,...

Our systems are out of date for the best performance you can acchive with Catalyst, but that depends how much you wanna get out of them.

    this is an old machine.
strongly suggest you dont try running an additional output from these machines - if it works at all.

suggest you buy a new mac.

So if I do purchase a new mac does that mean I need to buy a new decklink card and scsi drive and adaptor too? Got to love technology when an old machine is only 2 years old. Thanks for the recommendations.

On another note can you add a second NIC in a mac for artnet only?

each computer generation - is only 18 months.

Dual 2.0Ghz machines date from aug/oct 2003 - that is 2 generations ago.
In computer terms that is very old.

But there has been a major hardware and/or software change - every 6 months in those 3 1/2 years.
Sometimes both at the same time.
There have been 3 major hardware architecture changes. PCI -> PCI-X -> PCI-e -> PCI-e Intel. which has meant that every 6 months - the hardware inside peoples machines has had to change.

    And 3 major OS changes. 10.2 -> 10.3 ->10.4, and soon 10.5

    ---

Its even harder for those of us developing software to keep up.

    ---

The intel mac pro machines have 2 ethernet ports - but i have not had time to get to the bottom of using both of them at the same time.
