Im doing a little testing and experiment with an old mac mini i have on lend and have some puzzling surprises.
Out of interest i tried my triple head out of the display port and could achieve as expected 3 sets of 800 x 600. But, if i go out of the HDMI i can push the resolution to 3072 x 768, all the documentation says that this is not possible?!
Has anyone had any similar experiences?

have you actually tried running any content though?...
Mac-Mini graphics cards aren't great... A single output is ok (1920x1080) or 2 lower resolution (2x 1024x768) - but much more than this usually results in poor performance.
New unibody Mac-Minis seem to have weird issues with connecting anything (except an LCD) to MDP. HDMI port doesn't support analogue but does seem to work with other DVI/HDMI equipment...
TH2G on a mac-mini isn't recommended...
