The new Mac pro with new graphic (nvidia or ATI we'll have to see)

I spent a few hours with the specs. From what I can tell, the 4870 is better than the 8800 or the X1900. I am actually excited at the possibility of running two TH2G 1280x1024 reliably. I have ordered one and will put it in one of my G1 or G2 machines. I have also ordered a G3 machine and have a 4870 coming in it.
That's one thing that's been bugging me about the 1900, trying to get two digital TH2Gs working has always been a pain!
SourceChild: What leads you to believe the 4870 will be better? I'm interested to see what your results are, if it works I'll be after one.
Also, I have a late 2007 machine, by the looks of it I wont be able to upgrade, anyone know the reason for this?

Has anyone tested the New 4870 card with mini display port & div adapter to Triple or dual head to go?
someone pointed out to me that mini display port adaptors are non-locking - so not very useful.Quote:

Rumor goes that you can flash the HD 4870 PC version (2x DVI) with a Mac Bios. The successor of HD 4870, the HD 4890, coming out in April, is a tweaked version of the HD 4870. Increased ram and GPU frequencies, so the bios update should work as well for this card.Quote:

hacking apple stuff is a very bad idea- not recommended ... increased speed of gpu means increased heat etc ...Quote:
