New System
Hey Guys,
We already have Cat V4 but it is still running on a G5 PowerMAC, so we want to upgrade the hardware...
We're going to buy the cheapest MacPro and upgrade all hardware our self (way cheaper than through apple...).
The is the initial system:
MacPro
8Core 2,4Ghz
16 or 32 Gb Ramm
3x SSD 256Gb (1os and 2 content)
1x Ati HD5770 (management)
1x Nvidia Quadro 4000 for Mac (Output)
1x Dual DVI Capture (havend found a card only epiphan dongle's)
1x Composite Capture (Blackmagic Design - Decklink Studio)
I was wondering if the Ati and Nvidia GPU's will work together anybody any clues??
And what are you guys thinking of this setup?
Greetz,
Lennart

Hello Lennart
No - you can only use one GPU - go with the Q4000, not the ATI.
You don't need a shed load of memory, 16 will be plenty.
Throughput of the Epiphans is not that amazing - don't expect fantastic results.
You don't really need an SSD for OS - a nice to have, but not essential.
kind regards

Hey Nev
Does that also count for the Epiphan DVI2PCIe cards? 30fps is good enough for us..
And any recommendations on multiple Composite inputs on one card?
Kind regards

Hello Lennart
I have not tested the Epiphan DVI2PCIe cards, so couldn't say on that.
I would go for an Active Silicon LFG4 card, which gives you four composite inputs. They work very well
