Any one else having probles with shielded SATA cables? Twice now, I've had problems that were fixed using the good old red ones instead.

I use SCSI. More robust for this sort of thing.

sata cables are really horrible, and the connectors are really fragile.
cant imagine they'd take much of a hammering on the road.
Sata has proven to emerge as a great standard and more widely used alternative since these discussions. Cables, connectors, speeds, and capacities are no longer issues.
SATA is king now and even outperforms SCSI in price and speed if configured right. Glad I bought all those Raptors.
