Hi Richard and everybody

My G4 powerbook has lost its lower memory slot (a problem apple know about), but in doing so my machine will not run any version of cat4. I have 1g of ram in the upper slot and not had any problems with any other software on my machine. Has anybody come across this before, or do you know about this.

Cheers

known issue with os updates and memory.

apple apparently changed requirements for memory timing on os updates.

suggest search of apple site

The question is why is cat4 the only piece of software that doesn't work? Or have I got further problems, do you think.

what had you just done when the memory slot stopped working?

What did you upgrade or change?

did catv4 run before this?

What model of powerbook do you have?

My laptop had been asleep and when I opened it, it had frozen. Then on restarting it, it did not run cat v4, so checking the diagnostics it said that there was no lower memory.

The last time I upgraded was when apple last released it on the net to 10.4.7. Nothing else has change, no new software etc, since.

I was running 4.06m57 with no problems before this happened, (and all other versions also).

G4 15' powerbook 1.5GHz

Had 1g ram top slot and 512mb lower slot that is not seen.

very strange.

you might be seeing the symptoms of something else?

can you email me a console log of what happens when the app tries to start?

think this is a related to a completely unrelated problem when some very recent builds of catalyst v4 are run from the non-default or a non-administrator account.
