Hello all,

I am looking for a device to use with SAMSC that will allow a performer onstage to trigger cues. Basically a wireless GO button that can be hidden
in their costume. Any ideas?

Thanks,
el

Hello !

May be this veryful scriptable app http://homepage.mac.com/jonassalling/Shareware/Clicker/ + a Palm device ?

Thanks for the link!

Looks cool, but a Palm maybe too big to hide easily. Maybe one of the other supported devices is smaller. I'll start checking the list.\

Any other thoughts anyone?

Thanks,
el

Have you looked into wireless remotes that are used for multimedia presentations? Keyspan and Kensington (and others) have devices with a range of 50' or so that will simulate a space bar press for use with powerpoint(ugh)

oh!
i recently got the idea to use a wiimote.

the idea is to use the wiimote to render visual effects using its motion sencing capability or by midi triggering
which i have already seen done here (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WzH0OTnbN-E) using a program called max/msp

it work for me . you don't need to use midi , just use Apple Scripts .

Theres a remote that is called Due Cue or something like that. ( I need to look ) but it is a remote that uses rf, and is able to go far. Plus you can link multiple receivers as repeaters and connect them by XLR. It has 2 usb outs so it can connect to 2 different computers at the same time. It also has a selectable frequency so if you use multiple ones. if interested, I can find out who makes it. I do know it is expensive since it is made for professional use.

wiiremotes use bluetooth - and if you are serious about using this on stage - bluetooth isnt the best or most stable technology for stage work.

But I am sure someone out there would love to use it some time. Lol. I think it would be a pretty cool side project for someone to take on..

SCREW THE WII REMOTE!

i did it on the iphone

have near full show control of catalyst and pixelmad via the iphone

its a cowboy of a set up really

using a program called remote buddy (http://www.iospirit.com/index.php?mode=view&obj_type=infogroup&obj_id=24&o_infogroup_objcode=infogroup-23&sid=4011967G465af14715140a95) i have been able to ajax my iphone to the mac and assign buttions via the program with catalyst, pixelmad and even use it as a remote focus unit with visionary 3d

of course this is only for fun so dont expect to be using your iphone to run your next big tour!

there is a slight lag as well reminds me of when you dont have enough ram to send video to dl.2s
