That will sound pretty dummie, but curious

Cat v4 has a HD on the name or so... that means is ready for HD content.

Since Cat v3 plays movies up to 2048 x 2048 pix. and HD is 1080 pix. Is not cat v3 also a HD player ? If not what are the big player differences?

I do some panoramic screens, and always use like 1920 X 480 file formats.

2nd. question, I am getting a Mbps from my disk RAID/Firewire, arround 88/89Mbps, and i belive that is the better i can get (since Firewire800 is 100Mbps) a DV video goes up to 5Mbps, a Uncompressed video up to 40Mbps, so i am pretty much fine regarding disk access (that sounds correct ?)

In HD - what is the better (Mbps / quality) compression, what are the best codecs ? DVHD ? And what is the Mbps aprox i get ?
I know uncompressed is 150 - 200 Mbps (so i can not play that, except i had a XRAID or so)...

I really apprecciate any help and insights.

Remember that when it comes to Catalyst, Mpbs is not what matters, disk latency is. For HD, I have used photo-jpeg as the codec, but don't expect to get more than a few layers at a time. You really need to test it out with your setup, as there can be lots of factors that determine what your performance is like.
