The new g5s seem to run ok with panther.
the problem is installing the OS.
You have to create a 10.3.x hard drive on another machine and then swap the hard drive into the new machine
this has worked for me for a while now.
it is not recommended or supported by apple - and you do such a thing entirely at your own risk.
