Having issues with the output Resolution on one of my servers resettng from 1024x768 60hz to 1024x768 75hz everytime it restarts.

This would be an issue but the fiber conversion unit Im using to send the video down fiber doesnt like the 75hz.

Any thoughts?

just one server?

you mean when the computer boots up - before catalyst starts?
how many screens?

what monitor are you connected to?

Hey Richard-

Using actually 4 servers, however im jsut having the problem on one server. Im using serveral OptiComm Fiber boxes to transmit the signal to the projectors.

Basically upon the initial install, I set up the preferences of the computer to both be 1024x768 60hz. Then in Catalyst I set both outputs to be 1024x768 60hz. The servers are set up to go to full screen upon launch of program, and the option to set full screen to 1024x768 is also selected.

However each time I power up the program. The resolution output on teh Catalyst Control window resets to 1024x768 75hz 32bit.

Using the standard HES monitor that Catalyst shipped with... using all 8 layers on out output

so the resolution doesnt change until you run catalyst?

That is correct. The resolution resets itself. The resolution selection box on the catalyst control window changes itself from 1024x768 60hz to 1024x768 75hz 32bit, each day the operator has to go and change it back to 1024x768 60hz.

is the playback frame rate set to 30fps on all machines?

Are you sending DVI or VGA over fibre?

Richard-

Sorry... Was on a plane flying to the far east and was without internet access for the past few days.

Yes, the frame rate is set to 30fps on all machines. However the change is only happening on 1 sever, not all 4.

can you swap the outputs from the machine where this happens - to one that it doesnt happen on? and see if the problem moves.

Maybe i am off base here but it sounds like the display settings in the monitors control pannel are set at 1024x768 60hz and the display settings in the catalyst application are set to 1024x768 75hz. Thus when you boot the catalyst it changes and then when you quit it changes back. I would say you should verify that your display setting in the system os are set at what you want for your catalyst output.

Hope that helps,

Tyler

i dont think its my software.

i was trying to eliminate hardware faults before presuming a mistaken presumption from the operator.

Richard-

My apologies for bailing on the thread, got wrapped up in another project.

Ended up sending the machine back to HES, turned out to be a bad video card... And yes all the settings that I had told you were what they actually were.

yes - thanks, very much.

i was asking questions - trying to eliminate the possibility of bad hardware first of all.

it could always have been my software. but you described a problem i have never seen before.
