I did a quick evaluation of the units currently on the market at NAB and have finally settled on the soon to be released 10-bit SD210AD from TV One: www.tvone.com/sd210ad.shtml.
These are dual rack mountable and are very reasonably priced. Each provides 2 x parallel sdi outputs from a selection of inputs including composite, s-video and YUV/RGB component. I will be receiving one for testing in the real world as soon as they arrive in the UK. They also make one the other way around, which will be really handy for capturing footage from an sdi matrix onto my dv camera. All settings are easily accessed directly (no need for an external pc to configure as with some devices) and are saved in non volatile memory.
