Adrian,

You want to look at one of Richard's latest beta versions, like f28. This has RS422 deck control, and Midi Timecode sync.. You can also sync thru RS422.

Whilst this a beta version, and usual disclaimers apply, it is a very good beta version and was used in front of 500 million people on Eurovision... It will work with your v.3.0 d56 dongle.

You will need a midi interface - A Midiman Midisport 8x8, or an e-magic Unitor 8MkII will do the trick nicely. You will also need a RS422 Serial Interface. Keyspan make these.

If you need more information, please do not hesitate to e-mail me:

Best wishes,

Hugh

PS It's worth remembering that even at it's best DVD, the bit rate for audio and video is 9.8Mbit/s - this is the maximum datarate. DV NTSC and DV PAL have 25Mbit/s just for video...

Pioneer seem to have released a pro dvd recorder/player with rs422 control.

The PRV-LX10

http://www.pioneer-eur.com/eur/product_detail.jsp?product_id=6148&taxonomy_id=43-207

JVC have one too:

the BD-X200E

http://www.jvcpro.co.uk/item/index_html?item=BD-X200E

Both seem to feature RS422 deck control.
