What is the max number of phoenix cards I can use with a new mac pro?
Is it different if I wanted to use Black Magic Thunderbolt cards? Not even sure if you are able to use more than one anyhow, just curious.
I have a project where I would like to use 3-4 HDMI inputs from other computers.
Also is it possible to get something else into catalyst using like syphon or some kind of "virtual capture driver?" I am thinking like another window running on the same mac. Or perhaps video streaming from another computer.
Any thoughts?
Thanks!

About phoenix card and thunderbolt expander: theoretical number is 3 chained thunderbolt expander with 3 pci-e slot each (total 9) and you have 6 thunderbolt input so you capped to 20 input that declared in description. As my experience any lfg card that i had do not work on system above 10.6.8, and phoenix card stop working above 10.8 (with any combine of driver include a new ones for 10.10).
I have also decklink quad (with last driver) more than 2 input catalyst crashed.
About receive streaming video, there are on forum, looking for citp software for catalyst (https://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/citp-tool/id911784333?mt=12).

I guess I was wondering in real world testing, how many phoenix cards have been used simultaneously?
Anyone tried more than one 2 input card?

I have used (in the old MacPros) 3 cards, so 6 inputs in total.
When you check in the latest beta-build you can see 8 phoenix inputs. So I guess this is the maximum number that Richard has tested

Is Active Silicon still the best option? if so what model?
Active Silicon x4 PCIe card is the best option:
AS D10 PE4H (single SD/HD-SDI input)
AS D20 PE4H (dual SD/HD-SDI input)
(1 lane SDI cards are old and being discontinued)
LFG composite card still available:
4 input composite, 1 lane
All work in Sonnet Echo Express range of Thunderbolt 2 Expansion Chassis
Magma and other TB2 chassis also work
