sending udp packet

i would like to send a udp packet using the custom serial buttons if possible. I have tried to use osx serial and selected a tcpip port set to udp connection with an ip address of destination device and a port number for it but it doesnt seem to send data.can this be done or am i barking up the wrong tree

What are you trying to do? UDP is 'connectionless' or 'fire and forget'. So once Catalyst has sent a UDP packet it doesn't care what happens to it after that.
