View Full Version : Two problems that need solving asap

Hi there.

Two questions if I may.

1) We are having trouble in that the cue list is showing black edged squares instead of writing. It's fine when I am writing in the name of the cue, but when I am done it keeps reverting back to the black squares meaning that we can't see what the names of any of the cues are.
Does anyone know what might be the problem as it's going to be impossible to cue the show if we can't read the cues.

2) The spacebar is not triggering the cue list. I can go through one step at a time with the enter key, but the space bar isn't doing what it normally would. Is there a setting somewhere that controls this?

Many thanks
A

Please send a screenshot showing 'black edge squares'

Please send a screenshot of your cuelist that needs to work with spacebar.

Sounds like you have some corrupt settings files.

Check your cue list clock source is set to "internal-relative" for space bar to advance cues

Thanks for your answers.
Yep, internal relative was the culprit for the spacebar.

This is what the cuelist looks like.

I am suspecting a missing font, but I have no idea which one. If I click on the boxes I can read the text while it is being edited, but once I am done it reverts back to these squares.

2nd time this week I've seen this...???

Have you installed anything else on your system recently? ie Final Cut??

Try the the fonts attached:
Helvetica & Futura
quit catalyst
just double click fonts to install...
might need a restart?

For best performance it is usually recommended to use a clean install of MacOS with no other software and minimal drivers.

If you want to use your mac for 'daily' use - might be best to create a 2nd partition or install a new HD with clean install for catalyst.

Hello, thanks for your reply.

It's not my system, it's owned by the theatre I am working at and is a mac built specifically as a catalyst server (with the dongle inside the tower, etc...) It's only used for running shows so it's never been an everyday use kind of machine as far as I know.

I will try putting all of the fonts you have attached onto the system and see if it solves the problem. I did see photoshop was installed on it, but other than that I am not sure.
Cheers

The fonts did the trick, I guess they somehow disappeared.

I also checked on their system and there was a copy of final cut on there. Is that more of a problem than other programs.

Anyhows, I've told the theatre to create a partition for future show use on the mac, hopefully they will do it and no-one else will have the same problem.
Thanks

FCP might be a culprit - same symptoms and same software installed (FCP & PS)

Its easy to create a separate partition just for catalyst - even easier to install a 2nd HD!.. and much safer for show use.

glad it worked
