catalyst & 5.1 sound, possible???

Hi!
I need to output 5.1 surround sound. Is it possible with catalyst???
May be i need some additional hardware (external soundcard or something like that)?

You can use something like a MOTU 828 to output the multitrack audio. You can create MOVs with multitrack in Final Cut

indeed, create a multichannel audio files in fcp or nuendo

don't forget to assign the outputs in QT and save them accordingly

done lots of shows with a motu like that

Thanks!!! One more question what about codecs??? I have tried to convert FullHD video with 5.1 sound with catalysts convertor to AIC and i have receieved stereo sound... WTF???

In this instance - try converting it outside of catalyst - i.e. don't use the built in converter as it might default to converting sound to stereo rather that maintaining 5.1.??
(most of the time for video - its fine...)

If you have Quicktime 7 Pro - you can easily convert to AIC from there - just check the export sound settings are set to 5.1 not stereo
