Hello All-

Still banging my head agains the Mac 5,1 wall with the Phoenix card. Machine running in 32 bit mode - driver installed, still getting:

CDA_Open: Failed to Open CDA Device - error code 0x0000000f (system call failed)

error when Catalyst tries to open the card input..

this is a Mac Pro 5,1 2.4 Ghz 8 core machine running 10.6.8.. catalyst tried both 4.20 current build and 4.40 current build..

any thoughts?

thanks

chris

Whats the full printed code on the Phoenix card PCB?
(take photo of both sides and post or email me)

1) remove card

2) re-install in different PCI slot

3) Download phoenix drivers direct from Active Silicon Website:
http://downloads.activesilicon.com/phoenix/as-phx-drv-mac-v05_43_00.dmg

4) re-install drivers

5) Open a BLANK Catalyst show either m329 or m364 and see what happens.

If it fails again - contact Active Silicon directly and return card for repair/replacement (especially if in warrantee)

Thanks Simon-

tried in all PCI Slots - re-installed correct driver each time...

opened fresh install of m329...

card installs and works in a Mac Pro 3,1... so that's not it...

photos are attached..

thanks for looking at this

ok - so thats a PE1 single lane board

since it works fine in a 3,1 MacPro - it is possible that it requires a firmware update to work in newer 4,1 or 5,1 MacPro

I'll check with AS to confirm that this is the issue
(This is usually only required for PE1 single lane cards - not PE4)
Please email me separately for the FW upgrade and further details.

Check also if the MAC is on 32 bit mode boot.

Machine running in 32 bit mode
chris

Is in 32 bit mode
PE1 card is more likely to require FW upgrade
