Hello everyone, I am building a system for a client and he is wanting a KVM switch. I had built a system not too long ago that had a cheap KVM I found at Best Buy but it wasn't the greatest. Looking for advice for something better without breaking the bank. I don't mind paying for a good product but I also don't want to go overboard with something that i don't need. Basically they are going to leave the Catalysts backstage with one being active and one running as a backup, and will have the monitor, keyboard, and mouse at FOH.
What have you guys used with success in a configuration like this? Thanks in advance for any help, Matt

How about something like this?
http://www.gefen.com/kvm/dproduct.jsp?prod_id=8786
Do you mean KVM switch - i.e. to switch between main and backup?
or
KVM extender - to extend the Keyboard Monitor and Mouse over cat5 to FOH?
or combination of both?
they are 2 distinctly different products...
most of the adderlink range is good, depending upon signal types and distance.
(avoid the infinity series - It doesn't work...)
gefen is also cheap...
There are many serial controlled matrixes on the market, which either catalyst could control
available in 2 way or 4 way depending what you need to do...
