hi,
dunno if anyone has any recommendations but i'm looking for options for a controller to use as an interface to program catalyst via chamsys magicQ PC over artnet...
anyone got any suggestions?

yep you need an ethernet cable, plug one end into catalyst computer the other into magic- q pc, an interface is not needed as catalyst accepts artnet natively and magic q pc sends it! U might at most need an ethernet switch in between.
would suggest hiring a chamsys.... or a Chamsys PC wing
(no switch needed - Macs are MDI/MDIX - i.e. can work with or without a crossover cable.)

Ive Programmed a couple of shows on Chamsys using the PC wing which is quite good for the money. A wing with a standard current touchscreen PC is a neat setup.
Going up the scale ETC desks running the eos software are nice to work.
I recently got myself a MA2 with with a pair of touch screens which is great.
Its worth getting some training on different desks before deciding if you want to buy your own or just hire.
