Hi all,

Has anyone had catalyst programming experience with a chamsys?
What's to like and what's not?

Thanks,

Peter

Chamsys software is free to Download and use from their website.

Best to try it yourself and see how you get on with it.

Did they ever get it sorted out so you could view Catalyst clips on the Chamsys? Seems like they were promising that about 2 years ago. Better yet, are any consoles doing that with Catalyst?

my thumbnails come from a web server

I use it as often as I can. Whenever catalyst is specced for a show an mq50 or 100 is automatically booked for it. Its quite easy to get around although if the media page could be arranged a little differently. Best bet is to download it or borrow a desk and mess around with it yourself

I've used MagicQ PC for the past 3 (maybe 4) years to run a catalyst in my theater. I love it... 8 encoders per page is great for programming. A couple of years ago I added the mid-size PC wing and a touch screen, sped things up quite a bit. I haven't used any other console to control Catalyst, MagicQ seems perfect for it.

Isn't the whole ?thumbnails in lightning desks? thing a patent issue?

The Chamsys manual describes a step by step guide as to what to do...

The thumbnails are extracted from the catalyst webserver - and it does take about 5 mins to read ALL of them in.

Ensure that you have the correct IP address and port selected in chamsys for the associated catalyst webserver - and it reads them in.

Im not infront of mine until tuesday/wednesday

Suggest calling chamsys if you get stuck.

re Patent -
PRG hold a patent relating to thumbnails which MA challenged and may have won?
I believe that Chamsys has an agreement with PRG to enable them to do this...
The patent is more to do with the desk end than the server end...

It should be really really easy

I use the exact same format as every single web image and a web page gives the structure of files

Also the address of web server is broadcast using zeroconf or bonjour
