View Full Version : Random layers stuck in black

I'm running 4.3/build 297 on an identical pair of 8-core Mac Pro boxes (same config, running as active and spare servers).

Occasionally, unpredictably, some layer(s) will get stuck in black, as though the dimmer is not coming up, but the console is very definitely playing back the same cues that I'm running day after day after day, cues that work correctly more often than not...

I've discovered that toggling the LAYERS window from the HUD will "un-stick" the offending layer and bring it back to life. Unfortunately, in a live show, this never happens fast enough to save the look.

Has anyone else experienced this problem? Any way to prevent this from happening in the first place?

Thanks.

You are using ArtNet ?
The IP configs are 2.x.x.x ?
If you are using DHCP on the Macs, the ArtNet packets gets lost.

Is there any reason you are running m297? This is a custom version.

try running the release version m257 - available here:

I am indeed using ArtNet with an IP in the 2.x range. But I'm not convinced that is the problem. Toggling the layers window shouldn't have anything to do with refreshing ArtNet.

Am I wrong about this?
