New machines with 10.6.2 already installed...

There are several issues with Snow Leopard for versions above 10.6.2. It's better if you have access to 10.6.0. I hope to have some time for testing the beta for 10.6.5 next week but no confirmation yet if the issues that Catalyst are having are fixed yet. Even if the beta works, you'll still need to wait for Apple to release the update.

If you have 10.5.8 then you can also use it.

No. That's not true

There is an issue with QuickTime video input. That's all

Performance in 10.6 is significantly better than 10.5.x on recent machines

As a general rule one should never downgrade from the operating system that comes installed

I don't know what you are referring to as "several issues". ???
