View Full Version : 16:9 webcam for PreVis?

For doing pre-vis at home (and hotel rooms...) I use a Mac Mini with a cheap CCTV camera & a DFG1394 capture box to mock up cameras. But since the DFG & CCTV camera are 4:3 I can't program anything that is show-ready, only rough ideas.

Does anyone have an inexpensive solution for getting a 16:9 camera stream into a Mini? Are there 16:9 USB webcams that I could use? Or some way via software to crop the 4:3 camera I currently have into a 16:9 before it hits Catalyst?

Obviously I want to have this happen upstream of Catalyst so it sees a 16:9 camera and I can program as such without having to rebuild/adjust presets once I see the real cameras onsite.

Thanks

Ps. The "real" servers on the current project are Mac Pro boxes equipped with Phoenix cards pulling in 4 x 1080i feeds on each machine. If this helps the discussion...
