Hi everyone.
Im having some trouble trying to create a smooth fade between files when i create a cue list on the console.
Everything else in the cue (eg colour, scale, rotation) will do the fade between cues (usually 2 seconds) but the files in the cues just snap between and i was wondering how too overcome this.
Thanks.

hi Hamish - can you post a screen grab of the preset you are fading into?

Hamish,
I presume you are fading between files on different layers and not on the same layer?
If you change files on the same layer they will snap regardless of the transistion type set in the presets. You can't crossfade between files on the same layer.

Thank you Paul that has answered my question.
So if i use different layers for the different cues they should in theory fade?

yes.
Assign the pair of layers to the same mix/output
Essentially you will be crossfading from layer A to Layer B (eg 1 to 2)
1) Save one preset with required look using layer A at full (and B at 0 if necessary)
2) Save 2nd preset with required look using layer B at full and A at 0
3) edit both presets and set the intensity to 'fade to' and enter the time required for our transition.
Watch the layers window to ensure that the faders move as expected.
If you need any further assistance - do get in touch.

ok thanks.
out of interest, is there somewhere online i can find some tutorials? because i taught my self catalyst and have never really looked at most of the features in detail, so if there was something that could show me some stuff would be cool :P
There are no 'official' tutorials online - only documentation that exists is in application help menu.
We offer training in the UK (and some of europe) - do contact me seperately if interested
