It is confusing to understand your question so I may be giving wrong answers.

"without having a back magic card"

You do not need a Capture card. You can use a firewire capture device.

"secondary control of camera's pos"

There is not a way to control a camera over ethernet from Catalyst.

You can however use Catalyst to trigger presets on devices controlling cameras. Although I do not believe this is what you are wanting.

Hi Gary

There is support for a couple of remote cameras, including the Sony VISCA protocol which uses RS232 to control the cameras.

Nothing for ethernet control as of yet.

there is no standard for ethernet cameras - they are all different and many use proprietary or poorly documented interfaces - and for our uses have extremely poor latency.

which ones have you seen?

Are you talking about IP cameras? as in CCTV cameras that you would normally view on a webpage?

There is no way to view these directly in catalyst, but you could bring them up in a webpage on another machine and send the output of that machine into catalyst using a Epiphan USB Capture device.

Catalyst can control Sony EVI-D70 and BRC 300 cameras. You can add a Netcom IP serial adaptor at the camera end run your network to it, and send the camera VISCA commands directly from catalyst to control all the camera functions. The camera can then run into your decklink/lfg4/phoenix card and appear in catalyst as a live input.

I've done this on tour last year and it worked quite successfully.
