Hello Gary

Richard Bleasdale, Catalyst's developer now has Catalyst software under his wing and is continuing development here in the UK.

You can use text, either by creating a still image in an editor such as Photoshop and saving as a PNG file - you can use the transparency of the PNG file to overlay the text onto another graphic layer.

Alternatively, you could render the text out as a Quicktime movie and play that back.

I have sent you a PM to discuss this further.

kind regards

Nev

Hey Gary,

If you like, contact me. I have developed an After Effects and Motion work flow automation. It extracts text from a word processor (such as MS Word or iWork Pages) and converts them into 3D text graphics.

I designed it for Churches using Catalyst. Many would want to display large custom text of scriptures interactively.

The workflows I've designed are specifically related rendering content in either Motion or After Effects. You would need a licensed copy of either program (I recommend Motion). Obviously they would be running on a Mac.

You take a message into a word processor. The scripts use the indentation level and font style of the text to create the body of text. I use a program called Omni Outliner but Word, Pages, or even Text Edit are fine.

The way the scripts work is to sample a section of text between two flags and create a new Motion (AE) project with that string of words being drawn out in on of 20 different ways on any number of motion backgrounds or an alpha.

Only basic understanding on Motion or After Effects is needed. Even the encoding is handled through scripts as to prevent anything incorrect from being batched.
