I was wondering about the latest updates of leopard 10.5.4...

Is Catalyst working fine, I saw some tests done by SourceChild I think, that showed decreased performance on 10.5.2.

Has anyone evaluated 10.5.4????

thanks

I'm using 10.5.5 but I don't need big performances I always work with low res leds so no need for big files. In Terms of stability on my side it's perfect.

BTW there was a BIG problem with 10.5 when it come out . then Apple released ( i Think ) 10.5.3 and graphic update and things went allright I don't think now with the lasted there are big differences in terms of performances

The is a subtly noticeable difference between 10.4.9 and 10.5.5.

Emiliano is correct. The updates in 10.5.3 helped things. There was another update in 10.5.5 which helped with a few hiccups.

The bottom line is that if you have Tiger, use tiger. If you have Leopard don't worry about going backward to Tiger. Leopard is fine but make sure you are higher than 10.5.3. So far I have seen no problem with running all the updates to 10.5.5.

There are quite a few other threads where Richard has indicated the performance characteristics on different versions of OS X. I suggest you read them if you have any specific questions.

Right now, the simplest focus will be to get an SSD disk like an Mtron. The disk access time is where you're going to notice performance.

you have no choice if you buy a new machines- you have to use leopard.

but suggest keeping an install of 10.4.11 around if you upgrade software on older machines- i.e. duplicate hard disc - and install leopard on a new disc - not for stability but performance was slightly better.

stability is fine for both.
