I am thinking of building a new Catalyst machine and am trying to go thru all the specs.

This is what I am currently looking at.

* Two 3.0GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon (8-core)
* 8GB (8 x 1GB)
* 320GB 7200-rpm Serial ATA 3Gb/s
* NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT 512MB (Two dual-link DVI)
* One 16x SuperDrive
* Apple Mighty Mouse
* Apple Keyboard (English) + User's Guide
* AppleCare Protection Plan for Mac Pro (w/or w/o Display) - Auto-enroll
1- 10k raptor drive
2 -mtron 32gb ssd drives. In a Raid config.

Is there anything that I am missing or doing wrong?
I am waiting to see the outcome and reviews of the Phoenix card before I commit to a input card.
And what is the Quicktime version and OS version I should be ready to load into the machines.

Thank you very much.

Looks really good overall to me.

A few things do stand out though:

-More RAM is always OK, but I'm not sure if anything much beyond 4GB is really going to be worth the cost.

- Unless you really need the storage space, I no longer see a need for the raptor SCSI drive....you would do better to get (2) 64GB MTRONs instead of the raptor and the (2) 32GB ones,....but maybe you have a specific need for these?

Hope this helps:)

Soon, there'll be 120 GB Mtrons on the market...
