I have been working with active silicon to get more hdsdi/sdi inputs with low latency for Catalyst.
Cards will each have 2 sdi inputs - or 1x hdsdi input each.
Cards will be pci-express for intel only.
Initially supporting 2 cards in Catalyst for 4 sdi or 2 hdsdi inputs in total.
Initial availability is June 08.
Please contact
With email subject "Phoenix SDI for Catalyst"
info@activesilion.com
for pricing, availability.
Thanks Richard

That's pretty excellent. Do you know any stats yet? Lower latency then Deck Link cards?

doesnt have to go through quicktime layer - so latency will be closer to LFG4 -
Decklink digitising is done through quicktime - and this algorithm prioritizes capturing frames to a disc - so buffers inputs for up to 2 seconds.
Testing is ongoing.

Let's take the fact that there is already built in control for matrix switchers and all of a sudden we have a full blown switching system.
Four inputs means we could do:
Input 1: Up Stream Key
Input 2&3: Preview/Program
Input 4: Down Stream Key
Oh and it would be so easy to develop a little switcher control interface and with the right web interface....
Oh Wow how the ideas start to blossom.

Richard,
Will these inputs support HD or SD or Both?

Richard,
Will these inputs support HD or SD or Both?
have to see what happens with testing on a variety of platforms.
its too early to say what hardware or operating system will work well enough.

Will probably upgrade expected spec to 2xhdsdi and 4xsdi inputs - with 2 cards.
still need more testing on different platforms.

Richard,
That's great. As luck would have it I will be out of the country at that time. Is that the only demo in the states that you plan on doing?
