I've been using a program called "A Better Finder Rename". It allows me to number all of my content files. Has anyone used this? Are there any other batch rename programs anyone would recommend?

I put this on my Catalyst Partition by mistake, usually I have it on my FC and C4D partition. I am a little concerned it did something that locks Catalyst from time to time. Next time I see this issue, I'll report it but I'll ask anyway.

Using automator to renumber files, is great as I can either retain file names, or over right just with a number and I can also set start my own start numbers.

It is simple to set up the script too.

This program I'm talking about is almost better than the batch rename in photoshop. I was using scripts before but I am tired of being the only one on show site who knows how to write or troubleshoot a script.

Nev, I'll check out your suggestion. For the most part I am concerned about anything I used on my Catalyst partition as it might create a potential fault. For instance, the pgm I'm using actually integrates into Finder so it's not something I trust yet on the same bootp as my Cat sw.

Renamer4Mac is a little stand alone app, but is powerful with search and replace features, renumbering, appending text and a load of other stuff. Have used it for quite some time with no ill effects.

if it locks you have a hardware fault or a disc problem - sometimes heat problems.
sometimes corrupted files.

a finder renamer isnt going to lock your computer
