Hi there,

This is an old question but as I'm horribly out of touch I thought I'd best post it again in case things have changed since I last used the application in anger.

I am working on a show where the content company would like to supply us with a 12-15 minute sequence of footage with sound in standard definition at 30fps (nb the 30fps is so as not to conflict with D2 processor for versaTubes which samples at 60HZ 1024x768).

What is the maximum length of a single piece of footage that the Catalyst can play back?

I vaguely remember a limit defined by the number of frames possible in the inframe and outframe parameter.

Is this still the case?

Best regards,

Rob

P.S.

I'm presuming also that Photo JPEG medium quality or motion JPEG A 50% are still the best all round codecs to use.

65536 divided by 30 = 2184.5333 seconds = 36.408888 minutes @ 30 fps

in catalyst - the frame rate is set by the screen refresh rate or the playback rate of the application - not the quicktime file movie rate.
so it doesnt matter what the client renders his content at -
i ignore the quicktime frame rate.
you could get your client to render their movie at 25fps it wouldnt matter - unless their rendering program added removed or dropped frames-

with the d2 unit - its critical that the screen is set to 60Hz.
